THAT UPSTART LITTLE LINUX company that's forever tweaking the Vole's nose is back again. Lindows.com seems to be forever willing to put itself right in Microsoft's path and risk being run down. Its latest scheme is one that is sure to make systems builders give Lindows.com some very careful thought.
The company currently offers system builders the rather nice money saver of a $500 flat fee. It doesn't matter how many PCs you ship, that's the price you pay to include the LindowsOS. It's a nice deal. Lindows.com then makes its money by selling software and other services.
Now Lindows.com is offering system builders something more. It calls it RevShare. The idea is that system builders also get to collect up to 20% of the profits from the software and services. So, if the system builder sells a LindowsOS PC to one of its customers and that customer then buys StarOffice from Lindows.com, the system builder gets a cut.
